A Northern California Singer-Songwriter whose Odyssey includes a love of The Beatles, her father’s record collection and draws inspiration from her burnt-down childhood home for ‘My California’

 
 

…I love all of the songs in the collection and as a teenager they really spoke to me.

Her lyrics are honest and her vocals raw, yet beautiful. It made me want to pick up the guitar and learn to play, and so I did.


…For my birthdays he would give me old sheet music books that he would find at thrift stores. I loved the thrill of discovering and being introduced to a piece of music from the ink on the page.




…In contrast to the synth pop music of the 80s, these musicians often played their music stripped down and acoustic.

I was definitely inspired by them to learn how to play an instrument and write my own material.


… I felt a kind of heavy grief and stress that I had never experienced before.

I picked up my guitar and for me writing music is very therapeutic. I thought about what made growing up out in my rural community so special and out came this uplifting tribute.


…I get to see the music bring people together, holding hands, smiling, dancing…that’s what it’s all about.
