Petrol Girls Epitomize The Punk Rock Spirit With ‘Baby, I Had An Abortion’; Kendrick Lamar Showcases His Energy on ‘N95’; ROSALIA Demonstrates Her Stunning Range on ‘SAOKO’; Messa Hit Heavy With ‘If You Want Her To Be Taken’; and Perfume Genius is ‘Hellbent’

This as been a stunning year for society, politics and the world in general. Perhaps the most impactful was the overturning of Roe V. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court on June 24, 2022.

It’s times like this when punk rock, in all its ferocity and defiance, needs to step up. The UK punk band Petrol Girls met the moment with the stunning “Baby, I Had An Abortion” off their equally stellar album “Baby.” More than any other song in my last three years of doing this, “Baby, I Had an Abortion” perfectly symbolizes what a Pure Fire track is supposed to represent sonically, lyrically and socially.

Rap and heavy metal are always a mainstay on this playlist and while I wished I could add even more than I have, there are some great, great songs here. From Danger Mouse and Black Thought, Benny The Butcher, Megan Thee Stallion, Elder, the Brother Moves On to Megadeth, there is no shortage of stellar songs.

But also, with ROSALIA, Perfume Genius and electronic artist Catarina Barbieri, this might be my most diverse Pure Fire Playlist yet.

Please enjoy this playlist while rage cleaning some dishes like I do! Bye!!!!!!!
