“G3 N15” by Rosalia is my SOTY; yeule haunts with “Bites on My Neck;” Black Country, New Road enthrall with “Snow Globes;” Hurray for the Riff Raff celebrates “LIFE ON EARTH” and Kendrick Lamar once again showcases his genius on “The Heart Part 5”

This has been a special year in music.

From a cultural perspective, it seems this year was carried with volume by ROSALIA, Kendrick Lamar, Harry Styles, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo and a handful of very large entertainers.

But, of course, the entirety of my music year was fortified by Hurray for the Riff Raff, Grace Ives, Jordaan Mason, amaii, Angel Olsen, King Princess, Joan Shelley, Montell Fish and so many other genius acts.

Creating this playlist is always a bit bittersweet. Perhaps it’s because I become so emotionally attached to these songs and what they mean to me. Perhaps it’s because I am so enraptured by new music, that 2023 ne releases will consume me in a few short weeks.

Thank you to the dozens of people who have liked, shared, interacted and offered your friendship through the music I fell in “Love” with.
