Last May, the music-loving world was graced with Kendrick Lamar’s “MM&TBS,” Harry Styles’ “Harry’s House” and for indie lovers, Arcade Fire’s “WE.”

With perhaps the exception of Kesha, May 2023 was relatively quiet and lacked big names dropping impactful work. Especially if you take into account the 27 “Loves” I posted about between March and April, May was quiet.

Despite the lack of “Loves,” the album recommendations I did post about were amazing and will definitely be spoken about come year’s end.

In just this past week, as I’m compiling this monthly post and recap, my “Love” for Fatoumata Diawara’s “London Ko” and Colin Stetson’s “When we were that what wept for the sea” further ingrained itself within my heart. Kesha’s “Gag Order” is just as special as upon first listen and Gia Margaret’s mostly-instrumental “Romantic Piano” will be accompanying me to bed for many months going forward.

June is a big 5-week New Music Friday and perhaps the “Love” will start flowing once more.

Bye!
